Six Degrees Successfully Completes SOC 1® Type II and SOC 2® Type II Audit Examinations

Six Degrees continues to invest in achieving best practice standards and accreditations, reinforcing its commitment to delivering secure managed IT services that enable its clients to meet their compliance requirements.

London, UK, Friday 16th August, 2019 – UK-based managed service provider, Six Degrees, has today announced they have successfully completed a System and Organisation Controls (SOC) 1® Type II Audit examination for their Data Centre Colocation and Cloud Hosting Systems and Services, along with a SOC 2® Type II Audit examination for their Data Centre Colocation and Cloud Hosting Systems and Services. Six Degrees retained international CPA and business advisory firm, Skoda Minotti, for its SOC 1® and SOC 2® audit work. Skoda Minotti was selected after an intensive search based on their reputation as a leading risk advisory and compliance firm.

Six Degrees understands the cybersecurity and regulatory challenges faced by its clients, and continues to invest in achieving best practice standards and accreditations that provide its clients – along with their investors, regulators and end user clients – with assurance that their data is managed to the highest possible standards, in line with their industries’ unique needs and drivers.

Matthew Brouker, Group Product Director, Six Degrees, said: “We are constantly investing in the services we deliver to our clients. By maintaining appropriate best practice accreditations across all of our services, we demonstrate to our clients that we handle their data to the highest possible standards. Gaining SOC 1® Type II and SOC 2® Type II accreditation is just one example of how Six Degrees recognises client needs and proactively addresses them, ensuring that our services remain best placed to meet our clients’ regulatory requirements and solve their business challenges.

Cybersecurity has been a key investment area for Six Degrees since our inception, and this has been further reinforced following our acquisition of highly accredited and industry award winning security services provider CNS Group. The successful completion of our SOC 1® Type II and SOC 2® Type II examination audits provides Six Degrees’ clients with absolute assurance that the controls and safeguards we employ to protect and secure their data are in-line with industry standards and best practices. We are committed to helping our clients meet their compliance requirements, and we will continue to invest in the strong cybersecurity seam that runs throughout Six Degrees and CNS Group.”

Ben Osbrach, CISSP, CISA, QSA, CICP, CCSFP, partner-in-charge of Skoda Minotti’s risk advisory group says, “We were excited to work with Six Degrees from the very start. They are an intriguing organisation delivering high quality services and their business adds to our growing SOC reporting practice.”

The SOC 1® Type II examination is performed by an independent auditing firm and is intended to meet the needs of the management of user entities and the user entities’ auditors, as they evaluate the effect of the controls at the service organisation on the user entities’ financial statement assertions.

The SOC 2® Type II report is performed by an independent auditing firm and is intended to provide an understanding of the service organisation’s suitability of the design and operating effectiveness of its internal controls. A service organisation may select any or all of the trust service principles applicable to their business and Six Degrees chose to report on security and availability. The successful completion of this voluntary engagement illustrates Six Degrees’ ongoing commitment to create and maintain a secure operating environment for their clients’ confidential data.
