Alastair Mills CEO
Alastair is chief executive officer at Six Degrees Group. Previously he was CEO of SpiriTel plc, a position he held from 2005 to 2010. His appointment to that post, aged 32, made him one of the youngest CEOs of a UK-listed company. SpiriTel was backed by Penta Capital and sold to Daisy Plc for £37m in November 2010. Prior to SpiriTel, Alastair worked at Telewest and KPMG.
Alastair formed Six Degrees Group in 2011, backed again by Penta Capital, with the intention of capitalising on the growth of managed data services and cloud convergence. His senior management team from SpiriTel has joined him at Six Degrees Group where several new additions give the team a strong blend of skills and experience.
Alastair is a regular speaker at industry events and in 2009 he won the prestigious National Comms Business Entrepreneur of the Year award. In 2010 Alastair was selected as one of the ‘Global Forty under Forty’ in the telecoms industry; prior to that, in 2008, he was named London’s Young Entrepreneur of the year by Ernst & Young.
Alastair is an ambassador for the charity HOPEHIV, whom Six Degrees Group supports, and in his spare time he is happiest when spending time with his family on remote Canadian lakes or French ski slopes.

Ronnie Smith CFO
Ronnie is chief finance officer at Six Degrees Group. Prior to holding this post he was CFO at Spiritel plc, a position he held from 2006 to 2010. His appointment by SpiriTel brought significant M&A experience that was essential for executing their buy and build strategy.
Ronnie qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1988 with Arthur Young (now Ernst & Young) following graduation from The University of Glasgow. Ronnie has held a variety of finance roles in a number of listed and private equity backed UK and US businesses, including Sigma Aldrich Inc., ICN Biomedicals Inc., The Ritchie Group Plc and The Rope Company Group Limited. His experience covers a range of sectors including manufacturing, bioscience, distribution and telecoms. Ronnie has worked in a number of pan-European roles that have involved cross-border M&A.
On leaving SpiriTel plc in November 2010, Ronnie teamed up again with Alastair Mills to raise private equity and bank funding to complete the core acquisitions that launched Six Degrees Group. Ronnie was a finalist in Accountancy Age “Growing Business FD of the Year” in 2008. A Scotsman, Ronnie now lives on the south coast where he is a season ticket holder at Brighton and Hove Albion.

Campbell Williams Group Strategy & Marketing Director
Campbell is a 15 year industry veteran who has held various sales, marketing and business development management roles in a variety of manufacturing, carrier and reseller companies. He started his career in Mitel where he was part of a team that drove the company’s transition from a direct sales and traditional PBX business to a channel focused and IP telephony software provider, including being the content owner and host of Mitel’s IP product launch in 2000. It was at Mitel where he first met Alastair Mills in 2005.
Director-level positions at AT Communications and Charterhouse Voice & Data followed before he joined Six Degrees Group in 2011. Campbell is a well-known figure in the industry and he has travelled the world as a presenter and subject-matter expert in a variety of technology fields, including twice addressing global United Nations conferences.
Campbell held the post of Group Sales & Marketing Director when the company was founded and now has the role of Group Strategy & Marketing Director. He is responsible for channel strategy, product strategy, go-to-market messaging, proposition and solution development, public relations and branding matters. In his spare time, he likes most sports, “enjoys” watching Scotland, tries to play golf and looks to improve his wine cellar.

Jonny Shanmuganathan Group Operations Director
Jonny started his telecoms career with ACC Telecom in 1997. He was headhunted in August 1998 to become one of the founder members of Carrier 1 UK Limited. Carrier 1 offered wholesale voice and data services throughout Europe and North America and he was soon promoted to group commercial director. It was in this position in 2001 that he first met Alastair Mills who was a customer at Telewest.
In May 2002, Jonny was then approached by Arbinet, who two years later carried out a successful IPO generating $200m of investor funds on NASDAQ in December 2004 and he was subsequently appointed as VP of EMEA in 2005. In January 2007 he joined SpiriTel plc as managing director of SpiriTel Technologies Ltd.
Jonny was Group Commercial Director at Six Degrees Group when the company was founded and currently holds the position of Group Operations Director. Jonny is a keen sportsman, enjoying cricket and golf. As an ambassador for HOPEHIV, he competed in the 15 peaks challenge in 2010 and currently has his sights set on the 2012 London Marathon.

Mike Ing Group Line of Business Director
Mike has over 20 years of experience in the Internet and telecommunications industries. With a background in electronics engineering, he started his career at Cable & Wireless working on optical transmission systems and project managing submarine cable rollouts.
A seven year stint at Level 3 followed, where Mike performed a variety of roles, including a two year secondment to their Denver HQ where he managed global customer service. His last role at Level 3 was SVP Operations for Europe. Subsequently, Mike joined PacketExchange as Chief Operating Officer. During his 6 years as COO, the company more than trebled their revenues.
Mike joined Six Degrees Group in 2012 as Group Business Operations Director and is now Group Line of Business Director.
In this role, he is responsible for acquisition integration, business process management, internal IT and systems, and runs the managed cloud hosting unit.In his free time, Mike enjoys most sports, especially golf, and spending time with his wife and three children. The family is building a house on the coast
in Cornwall.
